Marketing Internship:
We are looking for an independent
self-starter who wants to learn the basics
of marketing from the ground up.
This intern would help with some key
marketing initiatives in support of specific
client engagements. The
intern will report directly to Lilia
Shirman, Managing Director of The Shirman
Group, and will also work closely with clients. I believe in helping people get a
head start in their career and this
internship will provide someone with an
amazing opportunity to see what marketing is
really all about, and deliver real,
measurable results for the client.
The intern will be responsible for projects
that are likely to include:
- Customer and sales channel
research: Based on guidance from the
client, build lists of target customers or
channel organizations.
- Market research: identify specific ways
to get the client’s message
out to target audiences in order to drive execution
of marketing campaigns.
- Marketing collateral: Create,
in accordance with the client’s existing
brand, marketing collateral targeted at
specific partner segments. Such collateral
may include brochures, email, ads, power
point presentations, web page content, or
other forms of communication.
- Execute marketing campaigns: Based on research
done above, assist in the development and
execution of one or more marketing campaigns.
These will give the intern the opportunity to
learn to integrate email marketing,
telesales, traditional mail, event
participation, and possibly other marketing
vehicles.
The intern will have access to and training on
development of value propositions and marketing
messages, market research, email marketing content and
tools, campaign design and outreach techniques.
The perfect candidate has most of the
following qualifications and/or skills:

Pursuing or just completed a
degree in Marketing, PR, Advertising, or
other Communications-related field.

MBA student preferred, but
savvy, mature undergrads will be considered
as well.

Solid
written and verbal skills

interpersonal skills

Excellent computer skills -
must have a strong understanding of internet
research, MS-Word, Excel, and Power Point.

Highly organized and
detail-oriented mindset, with the ability to
organize and track detailed data.

meet specific deadlines.

Duration:
Position is a 3-month unpaid
internship. Paid part-time position may be
available upon internship completion.
Hours:
Flexible and will
vary with specific project, campaign activity, client
requirements, and intern study schedule.
Location: Intern will need to
be able to attend in-person meetings on
the mid-Peninsula.
Other work can be done from home.
